Liability Insurance Coverage
PSTA membership provides up to $3,000,000 professional educator’s liability insurance.
Members are covered for situations associated with professional activities. Coverage also includes school administrators, paraprofessionals, nurses and coaches. Members are covered for members are covered for a variety of accidents which may happen at school.
Legal Assistance
PSTA is the only professional association for educators in South Carolina that has an attorney on staff. Whether it is contract issues, employment issues, evaluation issues, or just a question answered, speaking with an attorney is only a phone call away.
In-person meetings with our attorney are by appointment only. Walk-ins will not be accepted.
Legislative Representation and Advocacy
PSTA is represented before all state bodies and agencies responsible for education. PSTA is represented at meetings of the Senate and the House of Representatives committees. PSTA’s legislative efforts have played a significant role in establishing education reform in South Carolina.
Members of PSTA serve on Advisory Committees for the State Department of Education, the State Board of Educations, and the Legislature.
Professional Development
PSTA provides professional development free of charge to colleges, districts, teacher forums, or other education meetings.
